OVERVIEW

Jerard Studio is an association of artists and craftspeople. John Jerard and Mary Creede, the owners, are the Studio’s primary art directors and customer service providers. We’ve been creating high quality props, puppets and costume armatures, sculptures, and custom furniture for over 25 years. We also provide excellent scenic painting, finishes, backdrops and back painted glass. Our clients receive our personal attention and professional expertise to bring all projects to a superior finish. We see ourselves first and foremost as problem solvers, able to mold all of our individual talents, knowledge and experience to a common purpose.

Jerard Studio is different in that we work in a variety of media, finding creative solutions for the interior design, theatrical, and film industries as well as visual and performing artists, and public and private art commissions. Though it is unusual for one studio to work in so many different disciplines, it does not dilute our ability to satisfy a client’s needs but rather expands our problem solving capabilities. Our base of knowledge with regard to design, techniques, materials and fabrication continues to grow as one project informs the next.

Jerard Studio has provided original design solutions for many Broadway productions including “The Book of Mormon, Shrek, and The Addams Family.”
( See Past Work for a comprehensive list.) We’ve designed and created murals and sculptures for a variety of locations including hotels and restaurants at Walt Disney World. We fabricated the interactive plant and tree models for the “Amazing Plants” Exhibit at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden. We’ve built expo and point of purchase displays for Fisher Price and Western Publishing and corporate interiors for Polygram Label Group and The Sundance Channel. We provided backdrops and scenery for productions at the Marionette Theatre in Manhattan’s Central Park.

Jerard Studio also specializes in back painted glass. These treatments encompass a myriad of styles and materials including collage and eglomise´. We have a commission at The Brooklyn Aquarium at Coney Island, and perhaps the most ambitious back painted glass project we’ve had, a 30’ x 12′ mural of the Milky Way Galaxy is at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore. We are also teaching artists and have created site-specific artworks with the pediatric communities at Memorial Sloan Kettering and Montefiore Children’s Hospitals. This diversification of talents encompassed in one studio enables Jerard to deliver creative solutions to a variety of design challenges.

If you have an upcoming project that needs a creative solution and are looking for an effective way to get there, please contact us.
